This course is accredited with the NSW Institute of Teachers and will be
presented by two very experienced primary teachers, Rita Fin and Vanessa
South.

Whether or not you are bringing your students to the ABC Concert Series this
year, the course should provide you with a number of activities and
resources to use in your classroom. The course is designed for specialist

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Music teachers have an opportunity to discuss and review the first year of implementation of the current VCE Music Study Design as well as investigate and share teaching strategies for 2012. Each session will deal with the areas of study, outcomes, assessment and resources for each of the VCE Music Studies. A briefing for novices will commence 30 minutes prior to each morning session. This is the perfiect opportunity for networking, mentoring and forming partnerships. Resources from leading retailers will be on display.</p>
<p><strong>COSTS</strong></p>
<p>SESSIONS 1, 1A, 2 and 2A (3.5 hours each on Saturday 25 February)</p>
<p>• $45 per session for members</p>
<p>• $75 per session for non-members</p>
<p>SESSION 3 (8 hours including lunch break on Sunday 26 February)</p>
<p>• $135 for members</p>
<p>• $250 for non-members</p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>CATERING</strong></p>
<p>Morning and afternoon tea will be provided on both days. Lunch is included on Sunday. There will be a limited menu lunch available for those teachers attending all day on Saturday 25 February.</p>
<p><strong>PAYMENT</strong></p>
<p>All prices are inclusive of GST. Cheque, credit card payment, EFT remittance advice, or school order number must accompany registration. All participants will be issued with a confirmation notice.</p>
<p><strong>Mentors needed</strong></p>
<p>We are looking for experienced teachers who would be willing to be mentors for new teachers at this conference. Mentors would be paired with a ‘newbie’ and then spend the day with them. It is hoped that that the mentoring process, once established at the conference, will continue throughout 2012.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Good news for Instrumental Music Teachers who are looking to undertake a teacher training course . . .</p>
<p>The University of Melbourne has this year launched their M Mus PT/Grad Dip Ed course and will see their first intake graduate at the end of next year with teaching qualifications that meet VIT requirements.</p>
<p>The course has an instrumental music/ensemble direction focus and is great for those who have worked as professional musicians, have completed studies in performance and/or have been teaching for some time. Credit may be gained for completion of other post-grad studies as well as documented perfomance careers such as professional orchestral or service band employment.</p>
<p>The Master of Performance, Performance Teaching will be delivered by the University of Melbourne, Conservatorium of Music with &#8216;full-time&#8217; enrolment being around 1.5 days per week, with the Grad Dip Ed being delivered by LaTrobe University.</p>
