Orchestra Victoria’s Education Workshops offers students, community musicians and music teachers unique opportunities not offered in regional Victoria by any other professional orchestra. Workshops aim to enhance participants’ skills through direct interaction with professional musicians and conductors.
Education Workshops provide secondary music students, teachers and adult musicians the opportunity to work intensively with professional performers/teachers who are specialists in their field. The two-day student workshops sees young local musicians rehearsing and performing alongside Orchestra Victoria musicians, who act as mentors, under the direction of a professional conductor. During the workshops, professional learning sessions for local music teachers with the conductor are also provided.
All workshops culminate in a community concert providing an opportunity for students to share their memorable experience and achievements with family, friends and the wider community. Performing alongside Orchestra Victoria musicians, the concert brings together young people and the wider community to celebrate local community talent and take part in an exciting, fresh and community driven initiative.
· Secondary students who play flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, double bass or orchestral percussion;
A standard of AMEB Grade 4 is preferred but applications for AMEB Grade 3 students are encouraged to apply also (it is not necessary to have completed the exam).
